Hey, I'm Alice
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in London, United Kingdom.
Several years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to United Kingdom wasn't in the cards for the long haul. Like many international relocations, it started with an opportunity at work and quickly grew into something much more significant.
The first several weeks were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt tougher than expected.
The Adjustment Window
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created BrightFieldArc
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical knowledge gained from living in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated when something meaningful changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United Kingdom continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in London or anywhere in United Kingdom, feel free to reach out.
